D&L Energy Group Works with Ohio Department of Natural Resources
(January 4, 2012)(Youngstown, Ohio)- Executives from D&L Energy Group of Youngstown, Ohio and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources met today to discuss operations and plans for the Northstar Disposal Services, LLC brine injection well in the Ohio Works Industrial Park in Youngstown.  Northstar is an affiliate of D&L Energy Group.

ODNR Deputy Director Thomas Tugend thanked D&L for its ongoing cooperation and for the company’s voluntary decision to temporarily halt operations at the Ohio Works well to allow for an investigation into recent seismic activity near the site.  Deputy Director Tugend was clear in stating that – contrary to popular speculation – the cause of those minor earthquakes has not been determined and remains an issue in need of study.

D&L Energy Group agrees that a thorough and scientifically-sound examination of the geology near and around the Ohio Works well is appropriate and necessary.  The company has agreed to consider several options and draft an action plan for ODNR review. D&L Energy Group will fund the study. There is no timetable for the start of the study, or for completion of the report at the conclusion of the study, but D&L is committed to moving forward in an expeditious manner.

In the meantime, pressures are being released at the Ohio Works well, water holding tanks are being brought to the site to safely store any water that returns to the surface from the well bore and casing pipe will be removed from the well in preparation for future testing.
